History

United Cerebral Palsy of South Carolina was founded in 2003 by concerned citizens and family members of persons with cerebral palsy and other developmental disabilities. They were seeking the creation of community based services to address the needs of individuals with disabilities as an alternative to placement in institutional settings.

Our services are designed to support individuals in managing their disabilities and enhancing their quality of life by becoming fully participating members of their communities.

UCP of South Carolina is a charter affiliate of the national United Cerebral Palsy organization, a voluntary human services agency offering a broad spectrum of programs for persons with cerebral palsy and other developmental disabilities including autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, spina bifida, traumatic brain injury, physical and intellectual disabilities and more.

We are committed to excellence in responding to the needs of the people we serve and their families, with staff members being approachable and accessible to individuals at all times.

UCP of South Carolina spends nearly 89 cents of every dollar we receive directly on community services, making us one of the most cost efficient charities in the nation.
